Rubén Iglesias has been fulfilling his dream when joining, through marriage, a family from Quintanilla de Onésimo, thus becoming a vintner in one of the most precious Terroirs of Spain. He makes his wine in the Western most part of this appellation, close to the vineyards of Pingus and Vega Sicilia.
Contrary to those world renowned vineyards closed to the public through high security measures, we have with Rubén Iglesias a young vintner, enthusiastic about his vineyard of which he knows every corner, and a most hospital man to his visitors.
Tres Matas, after ripening 14 months in the barrels of French and American oak, has an intensive nose and tastes of ripe black fruits, caramel, leather and a whiff of dark chocolate. A potent, harmonious wine with a lingering quality.
Best with strong spicy dishes, red meat (e.g. grilled beef, lamb) and venison.
